At 1:30 p.m. Called on 池雲英 at his brother, 池錫永's home to make a long story short 池雲英 believes he is the 後身 of 西山大師; that two evil spirits who hated 西山大師 entered into 池's mother's womb when 池 was conceived in order to destroy 池; that 觀世音菩薩念佛 for the last 30 years have kept the evil spirits from taking 池's life; that the evil spirits will finally be expelled from 池's bosom if 池 should marry a girl named 金正姬 now 19 years old living in 三淸洞; that 池 has already made arrangement to nearly the girl on the next month old Calendar; the 池 wants me to help him to marry by giving him some money! 池 is now 66 years old! Poor, crazy old, he wants to marry a girl of 19! What's the matter with 池錫永. I had always thought he is sane.

Mr. Katsuji Kato, the secretary of the Japanese student Y.M.C.A. in America visited us. He speaks English almost faultlessly. Entertained him at a Korean supper at 長春館. He pretended to enjoy it.

Pastor Hyon gave a sterling talk. He has certain mannerisms which many people object, yet his down-right earnestness and apparent sincerity exercise very strong influence over the hearers.

3 p.m. Mr. Oison called on me. So glad and grateful to see him―after a space of 17 years. We talked about our old days in Wonsan. His sympathetic conversation as a friend highly appreciated.
