Am afraid Mr. 渡邊 is optimistic. Not probable that the authorities will respect the private rights of a Korean or his sentiments when the interest of a Japanese is in consideration. Is there anything, the Korean may feel safe of in this glorious country?

About 10 a.m. went to 溫陽邑. 倉石, the officer from 礦 山局 came and measured our hill. He most rudely, in manner and tone, told me that it was absurd for me to desire the preservation of my 所有權, and that it is nothing but superstition of the Korean to think it is bad to dig around one's grave. I was very mad for the security of life and property is the fundamental right which the Emperor himself respects. To tell me it is superstition to try to maintain my own rights was too much. Yes, what could I do? In helpless anger I said 朝鮮人ニハカモ山モァルモノテスカ. Then I left the place. Didn't call on 叔母. Returned to 溫泉.

For no reasons I know of, Wife exceedingly sulky. Most persons with vicious temper are industrious and active. Most people with incurable laziness are good-natured. But wife has the rare combination of the vilest temper and incurable laziness. She absolutely touches no paper or book. Her idol is herself. I must bear with her for the sake of our precious children. God help me to be firm and wise doing or saying nothing that might be regretted in calmer hours.
