Signed contract with 尹弘求 the terms of which are as follows.

1st. I am to pay ￥3,000,100 to redeem the 位土 in 新村 which my grandfather had given to his brother 弘求's 高祖.

2nd. The deed for the 位土 is to be made out in my name. The money I have advanced is to be paid back in instalments covering 6 years.

At the end of 6 years, after the money shall have been all paid up the deed of the land is to be made out in the name of the 宗中代表者 of which the produce is to be used for the purposes of maintaining the 宗家. I am put to a great deal of financial embarrassment by this contract but I have to do so in order to keep the land from slipping into the hand of others. Rice 60 sen per 火印一升. Busy in the morning to rearrange the matters with 尹弘求 at the advice of 議官. The lawyers I have consulted all agreed that the contract I made with 弘求 would have no legal value. In order, therefore, to save the lands from falling into other hands and at the same time to conserve the means of living for 弘求's widowed mother, I had to buy the lands out right for ￥4000.00 thus to remove the power of 弘求 from over the property with the understanding that I shall give 50石 of 正租 to 弘求's family every year. The transaction was closed this morning but I don't know whether the thing will smoothly or not. Supper at 北門外亭子.

This p.m. about 7 p.m. Mr. 金貞植 came to borrow ￥50.00 more for his house repairing. He said that on his way he saw an old woman kicked down by the Japanese policeman who had in charge of the relief-rice-selling (廉賣所) ; that nobody seemed to take any notice of the poor woman―that he, 金, suggested to the policeman the necessity of sending her to the nearest hospital.

This morning the 警務部長 summoned me and told me that the 京城日報 printed an item to the effect that yesterday the members of the Central Y.M.C.A.(鍾路靑年會會員) incited the crowd to riotous actions. The 部長 said he knew it was a misreport which arose from the fact that 金貞植 was once the Genl. Secretary of the Y.M.C.A.
