Song Do home. The School opened its 2nd term this morning at 10 a.m. None of the strikers of the 3rd and the 4th years came. They placed sentinels on all the streets leading to the school to keep boys from coming to their classes. A perfectly lawless action but the Japanese police authorities pay no attention to it. If the police showed 1/10 of the interest they took in Seoul in the strike mongers of the First Government Higher Common School, these cowards here would have made themselves scarce long before this. The Japanese would rather see this mission school closed I suppose.

This morning 兪鎭昌 one of the meanest and vilest rascals I have ever known signed that 德義 or virtue and righteousness is all gone in Korea! He openly says the poor have no business to starve as long as there are rich folks to feed on. He has Bolshevism all right. Confucianism made begging (paratism) a pardonable weakness; but Bolshevism (Korean edition) is making robber a Proletarian glory.

Song Do home. Went to Seoul 2:25 p.m. train to attend the B. of D. Meeting at the 中央 Y. Mr. 具 reported shortage of receipts had compelled him to pay only 1/2 Month salary to the staff. Two of Directors 李甲成, 金元璧 strongly recommended the raising of a loan of ￥1,000.00 to meet the deficit. Some months ago these fellows decided to contribute ￥l,000.00 by the members of the Board. Up to date none of them, except myself, has paid in. These 有志紳士 are liberal with someone else's money. Dr. Billings strongly objected to going into debt. So the motion was dropped.

Up at 5 a.m. Left Seoul with 璋善 for 溫陽 per 6:25 a.m. train. Waited 2 hours at 天安 Station for the train for 溫陽 where we arrived a little past 12. A refreshing bath. Visited father's tomb. Left 溫泉 6:45 p.m. for 天安 where we boarded the 7:55 p.m. train for Seoul. Past 11 when we reached home, felt very tired. Little 璋善 behaves so beautifully when he is my traveling companion.

Seoul home. 彰文社 重役會 at 2 p.m., but the perversity of 朴勝鳳 broke up the meeting. He asserts that the 彰文社 is “결단낫다.” He thinks everything is "결단낫다" that is not done according to his sweet will. The plain fact is that 9 out of the 11 blunders which the 彰文社 has made are directly and indirectly chargeable to 朴勝鳳. He is one of the vilest tempered and meanest tongued men I have ever met with in this world of vile tempers and mean tongues.

The bother of it all is nobody seems to know why they are fighting. 張作霖, the war god of Mukuden, and 具佣學 the leader of the Chili party are at each other's throat, throwing the great country into unspeakable confusion worse confounded all for what? Just to see who gets more power and more money. Selfishness is the root of all evil.

Called on Mr. Hobbs of the B. and F. Bible Society in regard to Dr. Gale's M.S. of the Revised Bible. Mr. H. told me that the matter had been referred to the Presbyterian mission.

Called on Dr. Hardie to ascertain his opinion as to the question of Dr. Gale's rights to his M.S., Dr. H. said in brief that he thought Dr. Gale was in the wrong in the first instance to have claimed the M.S. to be his personal property; but since the Bible Society had given Dr. Gale the rights of publishing it. Dr. Hardie didn't think it wise on the part of the Society to object to its publication now.
