Seoul home. 璋善 began his career today(10 a.m.) at the 京城師範學校附屬普通學校. I and 文姬 went to the school with 璋善 to hear what the school authorities had to say to the parents of the little fellow entering the school.

Seoul home. Funeral Procession and etc. for Mr. Yi Sang Jai. A very simple but appropriate service was held in the small auditorium at the Central Y. between 10 and 11 a.m. Dr. Gale conducted the service.

The Procession started from the 天道敎場. The coffin was placed in the carriage at the main door of the Central Y. 800 people held the lines both in front and back of the carriage. An immense crowd lined the street from 天道敎堂 to the Station. A 永訣式 was held in front of the South Gate Station and the funeral services of 李完用 couldn't help seeing the great difference on the part of the Korean multitude. He said our Japanese friends should note the difference and act accordingly. When Yi Yan Yong's remains were carried to the Station no Korean cared to be seen in the rank who followed the coffin while the whole city is honoring the remains of the old man who died penniless and titleless with sincere mourning.

I, with 30 others left Seoul 10:30 p.m. to accompany the coffin to 群山.

Arrived at 裡里 about 7 a.m. Left 裡里 forty minutes later. Funeral procession ceremonies at 群山. The coffin was carried to the 韓山 shore in a ferry boat. 2 p.m. we left 群山 2:30 for Seoul where we arrived 10:30.

Seoul home. Received a letter from 致旺 dated March 18th, saying that he had booked a passage for Canada leaving Glasgow May 21st. He wants ￡100/sterling more for travelling expenses.

Seoul home. 瑛姬 has been ill for the last two weeks. Began with indigestion and cold―thinks to the criminal over feeding and keeping her in overheated room wrapped in overhot clothes in all kinds of weathers. The perversity and obstinacy of wife is responsible for all that, yet she groans, complains as if everybody else, except herself, made the child sick. The abominable temper and viperish tongue of wife; the perverse notion of individuality and of liberty which make Helen an educated nuisance; the ingratitude and meanness of men like. 兪鎭昌, 姜文秀, 李重國 etc. turn my airs gray faster than I care.

Seoul home. Went to 永度寺 at 1 p.m, with Messrs. 李春完, 金貞植 to have a chat over what one might do to help the army of educated idlers that are constantly increasing in number. A big 土地會社―with the purpose of buying up lands for the benefit of the Korean farmers―was suggested. But where is the money come from? Where are the men who will honestly do the work of the 會社 for the benefit of all?
