Seoul home. If what Mr. Weems said yesterday is true then all the institutions in America and eleswhere which have great endowment funds are anti-Christ and ungodly. God gives us sunshine everyday but the heat and light of the sun are made everyday. Had God run the world according to Weems' plans, there could not have existed the immense mines of coal, precious and useful metals which are nothing but the endowment funds that God has provided for the use of man. Does Mr. Weems keep anything in the bank or life insurance companies for future contingencies or his family?

Seoul home. Have been reading the Autobiography of Mussolini. What an ability, what an integrity, what a common sense, what an energy that man must have! Not only Italy but China, Russia, India and Korea desperately need Mussolini to deliver them from the abominations of sentimental internationalism, bestial Bolshevism, sickening Socialism. But a Mussolini is possible only among a war-like race, hence he is an impossible article in Korea. By the way his autobiography reads like an enlarged Nehemiah with modern background and modern problems.

Seoul home. Hear Mr. 李夏榮 passed away yesterday. He began his career as a "motchi" pedler in the streets of Fusan. Then a cook under the employ of Dr. Allen of the American legation. Then the Minister of Foreign Affairs. He died a Viscount. A success as success goes in Korea. He was ignorant to the extent that he couldn't write a letter, they say. Yet he deported himself with easy dignity almost as a man born and bred in an aristocratic family.
