Went to hear Rev. 海名 in the Pierson Memorial Bible School. He gave his Christian experience in English. I liked it very much. One thing he said is worth remembering "The Christian life is not a life of pilgrimage, wandering from one place to another, but it is a life of conquest."

Y.M.C.A. as usual. Baby sick. The bother is that wife will not, simply will not, learn the more sensible ways of taking care of children in the matter of food and clothing and sleeping. Her favorite and irrefutable answer to my remonstration is a foreigner is foreigner and a Korean is Korean. She will not learn from others what is better; she will not give up what he learned from childhood, no matter how bad it may be.

Through the intermediation of Mr. Pak (□□) and Mr. 李魯翊 I had an interview with 張斗徹, 朴熙斗, 金元壁, 盧俊澤, and explained to them my policy and situation in the Y.M.C.A. They all said they had no quarrel to pick with my policy and attitude. Only they couldn't understand why I would alienate so large a part of the members by big partial to 邊壎. They said if I would yield that much to the wishes of the members, they would withdraw all oppositions. I told them that I had no power over 邊 now since his case is now in the hand of the B. of Directors and that they could ask the Board to reconsider the question in regard to 邊. The Annual meeting met at 4:30. Directors……. Dr. Starr gave a lecture to the crowded house on the subject "The time to live in" at home.

Messrs. 山縣, 太田代, 佐村 and 梁主三 to tea at 4 p.m. They seemed to enjoy it. About 6 p.m. the Japanese friends left Mr. Yang and me. So we talked about the condition of the Korean church and relation between the Korean workers and missionaries.
