- 국립경주문화재연구소, 영어, 중국어, 일본어로 된 월성 소개 자료집 제작 -
문화재청 국립경주문화재연구소(소장 이종훈)는 외국인 전문가와 관광객들을 위해 신라 궁궐이 있던 경주 월성(사적 제16호)을 소개하는 영어, 중국어, 일본어 자료집 4종을 제작했다.
‘경주 월성’은 유네스코 세계유산으로 지정되어 외국인들의 방문이 해마다 꾸준히 늘어나고 있지만, 이들을 위해 최근 조사 성과를 소개하는 자료는 상대적으로 부족한 편이었다. 이번에 제작한 3개 외국어로 된 안내 자료들은 영어, 중국어, 일본어를 모국어로 사용하는 방문자들에게 세계유산인 월성을 더 자세히 이해하는데 도움이 될 것이다. * ‘경주역사유적지구’ 유네스코 세계유산 지정(2000년)
이번에 제작한 자료는 기존에 한글로만 제작되어 있던「신라 천년의 궁성, 월성」,「경주 월성 발굴조사」,「월성 해자」,「월성의 꽃･나무 그리고 동물」등 4종의 자료집을 영어, 중국어, 일본어로 번역한 것이다. * 안내자료: 1. 신라 천년의 궁성, 월성 (영어명: Royal palace of Silla Millennium, Wolseong) (중국어명: 新罗之千年王宫, 月城/일본어명: 新羅千年の宮城, 月城) 2. 경주 월성 발굴조사(영어명: Gyeongju Wolseong Excavation Research) (중국어명: 庆州 月城 考古调查发掘/일본어명: 慶州 月城 発掘調査) 3. 월성 해자 (영어명: Wolseong Moat/중국어명:月城护城壕/일본어명月城の垓子) 4. 월성의 꽃, 나무 그리고 동물 (영어명: Flowers, trees and animals of Wolseong) (중국어명: 月城的花，树木与动物/일본어명: 月城の花、木、そして動物)
「신라 천년의 궁성, 월성」(12쪽)은 2017년 이후부터 최근까지 국립경주문화재연구소가 경주 월성에서 발굴한 조사 성과를 담은 전문가용 자료집이다. 그리고「경주 월성 발굴조사」(8쪽)와「월성 해자」(8쪽),「월성의 꽃･나무 그리고 동물」(8쪽) 자료는 월성과 해자 발굴조사에 대한 전반적인 소개와 조사 성과, 월성에서 출토된 동･식물 자료 등을 간단한 안내 글과 사진으로 쉽게 소개한 관광객용 안내 책자다.
국립경주문화재연구소는 이번 안내 자료 번역을 위해 해당 언어권에서 유학하거나 그 언어를 사용하는 원어민을 함께 참여시켜 번역의 정확도를 높였다. 또한, 표나 그림 속에 들어간 내용도 번역하여 자료를 접하는 외국인들이 해당 내용을 깊이 있게 이해할 수 있도록 배려했다.
국립경주문화재연구소는 이번에 제작한 외국어 안내 자료를 ‘월성이랑(月城以朗)’의 해설 프로그램에 참여하는 외국인 관람객들에게 활용할 계획이다. 참고로 ‘월성이랑’ 해설은 현재 코로나19 확산 방지를 위해 잠정 중단된 상태이며, 운영 재개가 결정되면 별도로 공지할 계획이다. * 월성이랑(月城以朗): 월성 발굴조사 현장에서 출토된 유물과 그 동안의 발굴 과정 등을 알기 쉽게 설명하는 전문 해설팀
문화재청 국립경주문화재연구소는 이번 안내 자료 발간을 계기로 최근 영화나 음악을 중심으로 진행되고 있는 한류(韓流) 열풍에 우리나라 전통 문화도 이바지하는 계기가 되길 바라며, 경주 월성이 전 세계가 공감하고 함께 즐길 수 있는 문화유산으로 자리 잡기를 기대한다.
The Story of Gyeongju Wolseong for Foreign Experts and Tourists
- Publishing Information Materials of Gyeongju Wolseong in English, Chinese and Japanese, the National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage - The Gyeongju National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage (the GNRICH, Director Lee Jong-Hoon), under the Cultural Heritage Administration, has produced four information materials in English, Chinese and Japanese for foreign experts and tourists to introduce Gyeongju Wolseong (the historic site no. 16), where Silla palace was located. ‘Gyeongju Wolseong’ has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Although the number of foreigners visiting has steadily increased every year, there has been a relatively lack of materials to introduce the results of the recent research on the site for them. Hence, the latest information materials published in English, Chinese and Japanese will help visitors, whose native language is English, Chinese and Japanese, understand the World Heritage site Wolseong in more detail. ※ The Gyeongju Historical Area has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2000. 『Royal palace of Silla Millennium, Wolseong』(12 pages) is a handbook for experts on the recent findings of Wolseong since 2017. 『Gyeongju Wolseong Excavation Research』(8 pages), 『Wolseong Moat』(8 pages) and 『Flowers, trees and animals of Wolseong』(8 pages) are leaflets for tourists that present the general introduction of Wolseong and moats excavation research, its results and data on excavated animals and plants in an easy and simple leaflet with photos. The GNRICH has increased the accuracy of the translation by participating native speakers and people who studied abroad in order to translate the information. Moreover, the contents contained in charts or pictures were also translated to allow foreigners, who access the data, understand the contents in depth. The GNRICH plans to use the latest leaflets for foreign visitors who attend a guide program of ‘Wolseong Irang (月城以朗)’*. The guide program of ‘Wolseong Irang’ is temporarily suspended due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
