Y.M.C.A. as usual. Between 4―5 職員査經會 begun. At 5 p.m. went to 金谷園 to 洪牧師's 餞別會 gotten up by the 宗橋 Church people. 月例會 at 8 but want of quorum no meeting. The disaffected had their crowd to raise questions on many things but they had to keep silence.

Y.M.C.A. as usual. At 4:30 p.m. called on Miss Smith and suggested (1) that the number of subjects taught to children in her primary school be reduced, (2) that a strong, well educated man teacher be employed for teaching the children, (3) that a dinning room and tables be fixed so that the children bring their luncheons may eat under the supervision of a teacher. In the night with 金顯英 to 尹迴求's to see the 譜所所入文爲 but 尹迴求 was out.

Y.M.C.A. as usual. 金顯英 sent to 藥峴 to ask the gardeners 岡實太郞 and 岩付 to vacate the property or to fix new rentals. 5:30 p.m. 洪牧師餞別會 at 永興館. 洪牧師 seems to have won real esteem and confidence of his Seoul friends.

Sent 顯英 to 尹迴求 to attain the 本譜所 and 入文簿. 顯英 reports (1) that the amount subscribed were ￥990.00 or more; (2) that of that subscript. 叔父 didn't pay in his; (3) that there was recorded 尹錠烈 was given ￥150.00 1st instalment for 山傳 expenses; (4) that they had made it a rule for every subscribers aren't paid in two receipts; were to be given one to the payer and the other to be kept in the 譜所.

Y.M.C.A. as usual. At 8 p.m. the Salvation Army had reception given to their new leader, Col. French. Not a Korean was put in the elaborate program―very much offended many Koreans. The Salvation Army men made a big blunder in that.

Y.M.C.A. as usual. Rev. Inwood from England preached to a full house from 8 p.m.

Y.M.C.A. as usual. Rev. Inwood preached to a good and appreciative crowd from 8 to 9:30 p.m. 達龍 left for 東京 by the 8:30 a.m. train.

At 9:20 a.m. left Seoul for Song Do. Arr. 11:30 a.m. Rest and enjoyed the pure air of the country. At 8 p.m. went to 北部禮拜堂 to be present at the Tenth Anniversary celebration of 韓英書院.

By the 2:45 p.m. train returned to Seoul. How I wish I could spend weeks in my country homes whenever I feel tired and weary of the impure air of Seoul.

Y.M.C.A. as usual. 4:30 p.m. went to 朝鮮ホテル to be present at the tea give for 村上唯吉餞別會―two(too) long speeches by 趙重應 and 村上兩內. 少年部音樂會 came off nicely.

局長 with 議官's family came to see 玄暎運's daughter. A very pretty girl.

Y.M.C.A. as usual. Rain all the day. At 4 p.m. 元牧師追悼會 by the Christians of Seoul. The last words of Dr. U. that I remember were in connection with electing the honorary directors. He was lying down―echoing what "I had just said." He slowly and distinctly repeated. "Yes, we(Japanese and Korean) must be united." I can hardly realize that this great man is gone never to return!

Y.M.C.A. as usual. 尹秉熙 called on us and volunteered the information that some of the school boys arrested had stated that in the Bible classes of Y.M.C.A. anti-Japanese history has been surreptitiously taught. Mr. 李 and I told him that there was such a plan last Spring but that he (李) had stopped it.
