Y.M.C.A. as usual. Mr. Cram came to see me to talk over Hong 牧師 case. At last both of us agreed that the presiding riders should deal with the case as the Korean preachers want.

宗橋禮拜堂如前. 午後 Y.M.C.A. 福音會 as usual. Heard Mr. Cram had an accidents―His motor wheel ran over an old man.―Too bad. At 6 p.m. went to 明月館 to the 歡迎會 given to 韓相龍 and 趙秉澤 who had returned from Tokyo as the representatives of the Korean people to see the ex-gov. Gen. O and the new governor.

Y.M.C.A. as usual. Entertained Mr. 德富 at the Family Hotel. 申興雨, 崔相浩, 金麟, 山縣五十雄, 阿部, 方台榮 present. At 8 p.m. 月例會, 白南震, 張斗徹, 朴熙道, 金元壁, 宋秉輝, 盧俊鐸 and their crowd charged me as having violated the constitution in dismissing 徐 and 李. Appointed committee of 5 to ask the B. of D. to take an action on it.

Y.M.C.A. as usual. Called on 渡邊鷹次郞 at 2 p.m. He said that there is prospect that the 溫陽金礦請願 by the Japanese may not be granted. Budget Comm. met at 4:30. But 兪星濬 failing to come. We had to postpone the meeting.

From 10 a.m. the Y.M.C.A. Secretary conference met at 培材學堂. Miss Fisher led. Topics Y.M.C.A. Education. Entertained 丹羽, 村上, 宮田 at the Family Hotel. 崔相浩 entertained. Dr. Hahn at 長春館 to a Korean supper. 李商在, 邊壎 and I invited.

Y.M.C.A. conference at F.M.B.'s home. Fisher led. Topics―The Junior Dept.; the Y.M.C.A. of other countries; and Nest five year's plans. The conference closed. The last 3 mornings well spent. Mr. F. and 村上 entertained at 京城靑年會. 李, F.M.B. and I also invited. Fisher missed the train at 9:10.

Y.M.C.A. as usual. Our baby 恩姬's 1st Birthday. At 6 p.m. entertained Mr. 村上總務 to Korean supper at 長春館.

崔相浩, 李商在, 金一善, 邊壎 besides myself. 村上 seemed to enjoy the supper. At 7:30 村上 gave a talk on the Y.M.C.A. At 4:30 p.m. 兪星濬 came to the office of the B. and F.B.S. When I told him that we may have to drop the 學館 he said he would resign rather than sanction such an act.

He said that would offend the Koreans so much that nobody would come to the Y.M.C.A. if we abolishes the 學館! He proposed to get ￥1900 asking the general secretary to get the other half to meet the deficit. What a change!!!

By the 9:10 a.m. train went to Song Do with 丹羽 and 村上. Lunch at our home. After lunch visited the school, 工業課 and 滿月臺. Tea for the guests at 4 p.m. They left Song Do at 5:48 p.m. Supper at Wasson's. Saw the 2nd edition of the song book which has caused so much trouble―nothing objectionable.

Saw Mr. Cram. He heartily endorses my opinion that our school should conform to the Education Law as 培材 has done. My reasons (1) directly this has to be done, willy nilly, with end of ten years, why not do it now and be done with it. (2) The authorities will show power to us for doing so now as they would show disfavor when we do so at the end of the time set. (3) The action will open the way of our graduates to get employment easier. 梁柱三 heartily approves of its proposal. Cram said we should win Miss Head and Miss Bennette to our view. Returned Seoul by 11:10 a.m. train. Y.M.C.A. as usual from 2 p.m.

Y.M.C.A. as usual. At 11:30 a.m. an interview with 申興雨 at 梨花學堂. He advised me to deal straight with 宇佐美 to prevent from playing nasty tricks by misrepresenting both for own dirty sake. He promised me his cooperation.

I thanked him and told him I have no ambition but that of retirement to rural life. 工學館 to be abolished. Budget Comm. met at 5 p.m. At 7:30 p.m. called on □□. He actually told me that 申 had suggested to him the advisability of electing 丹羽 a 共同總務 of the Central Y.M.C.A. □□ is such a liar that he is most dangerous when he happens to tell a truth.

Y.M.C.A. as usual. At 5 p.m. the Board of Directors met at the B and F.B.S. The Budget Com's report passed―the 工學館 to be abolished―adjourn at 8 a.m. The fullest Board of D. meeting I have ever seen―朴勝鳯, 白象奎, 宋彦周, quietly left the room just before the Budget was introduced! 兪星濬 stayed away from both the Budget Comm. and from the B. of D. meeting!

巴樂萬君來韓十年祝賀會. Nearly 70 friends, Japanese, Americans, Koreans gathered in 長春館 to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of F.M.B.'s arrival to the east. An enjoyable occasion. 崔相浩 was the originator of the movement. The success exceeded anything I imagined!

Y.M.C.A. as usual. Supper with 崔相浩 and 安在鴻. Told the latter my purpose and plans about the Central Y.M.C.A. viz: (1) We must cultivate the good will of the powers that be: (2) We must develope the social and supplementary educational classes to its full limit; (3) We must do our work so well that nobody shall find any excuse to abolish the Korean Y.M.C.A. Asked him if he could join our work. He didn't give decisive answer. Received a letter from 在日本靑年學館卒業生一同―the gist of the long and elaborate letter "「第一任員의 黜陟을 自意로 次而學館廢止를 是圖함에 對하야 아―참으로 權利의 濫用함이 아니며 情松의 攘奪됨이 안인가요 ―云云.」”

Y.M.C.A. "Wife" spoiled my lunch appetite by showing her wicked hatred against daughter-in-law. At lunch I asked some questions about the prayer meeting last night which daughter-in-law attended. Wife angry because I talked with her. She trembles with rage everytime I show any sign of affection to my daughter-in-law. Well, what's use of complaining! God has given me this "wife" as a punishment for my ingratitude to Saint's Sientsing! God help me to be able to protect my sweet children from the wickedness of this demon of a woman.
